Pinterest Trends in April During Covid 19

April 8, 2020

Pinterest trends in April of 2020 look a little different than those last year during this same time. Our world is the in the midst of an upset with a lot of working adults at home in their pajama pants trying to work for the first time with kids present.

People in the United States for the most part are staying at home. They’re keeping busy homeschooling their kids, working from home, working out at home and so much more… like creating memes of Tiger King.

The world is ablaze right now despite the fact that we are all at home giving you, the marketer, the opportunity to help those people in new ways.

Pinterest Trends During Covid 19

Despite what some might be saying people are still buying. I would dare to guess home projects are at an all time high because those husbands who are usually working are now at home… trying to work.

Today I want to give you some trends that you can count on because they come straight from Pinterest.

The following data is straight from Pinterest. You can find the source here.

Work From Home

Not everyone in the nation can work from home but those that can are likely trying their best. Work from home keywords have surged 1411% in the last 2 weeks globally. Pinners are searching for ways to make their homes a new work from home office.

  • Work from home routine – +872%
  • Work from home outfit ideas – 82%
  • WFH desk ideas – 406%
  • Closet office
  • Desk organization for productivity
  • Daily productivity planner
  • Work from home time management – 1308%

How to get organized

Now that more people are at home they are dealing with the clutter. It’s proven that clutter causes stress and I for one can’t work in clutter. It drives me mad.

  • Simple pantry organization hack
  • FlyLady 15 minute declutter session
  • FlyLady method +40%

Work from home parenting

With these parents suddenly becoming teacher to their kids they are looking for ways to entertain & teach them to keep those little guys busy.

When kids aren’t entertained they tend to eat everything in sight in my house. I’m not sure about yours.

  • DIY homemade playdough
  • Sensory bags
  • Aquarium mason jars
  • Tin can owls
  • Velcro building sticks
  • Homework caddy

Of course this doozy… stay at home kids activities is up over 4000% with easy at home crafts for kids coming in at a breeze 500% increase.

Self-care at home

To bring it full circle these fully functioning adults are having “bring your kids to work day” every day of the week and on top of it trying to learn how to work with a new coworker… that promised to not eat your food or made a vow until death do us part.

Hopefully working from home with their friends or family won’t be their undoing.

Many pinners are heading to Pinterest to search for things like self care at home which is up +332% by the way.

They are also looking for tips on:

  • Working out at home
  • How to power nap
  • Kids meditation +30%
  • Meditation tips for beginners +108%
  • Quick yoga practices
  • Easy stretching exercises

Action Items

Now is not the time for you to sit and be idle. 97% of all searches on Pinterest are unbranded and those people are looking for you. It’s not hard to see that your people, my people… they need help. They have this new normal for a short while and they want to make the most of it. I don’t blame them to be quite honest.

It’s unprecedented to get to work from home and spend more time with your family. This is likely something that won’t happen again for a long time… if ever.

So do your part. Don’t sit idle. Here are a few things you can do to help those people right now.

  • Create valuable content giving your best tips
  • Go Live and use video to put your message out there
  • Give a free class where you don’t pitch on the backend of it (I can tell you just how valuable this has been for my business.)
  • Make pins with trends in mind
  • Pin consistently (read How to create a Pinterest routine if you need help.)
  • Use Tailwind & Tailwind Tribes to share your content
